License Assignment in the Administrator Dashboard

Access to the Administrator Dashboard

The dashboard can be accessed by clicking on your user avatar in the bottom-left-hand corner of your screen. Click on the avatar to open the menu, then select Company Settings.

Note: Only accounts with administrator rights can see Company Settings and access the license dashboard. If this option is not visible, your account does not have administrator rights. Requests for administrator rights must be submitted to amber via your project manager.

Opening User Management

Under Company Settings, select User Management. This is where all license and role settings are managed.

  • The total number of licenses and the number of licenses already assigned (top-left card, e.g. "94 / 100").

  • The Roles overview (number of Administrators and Developers).

  • The Users and Groups tabs, where you switch between the individual user view and the group view.

License assignment

amber offers two options for license assignment:

  1. User-specific assignment: Each account from the connected SSO provider (for example Active Directory) can be assigned a license individually.

  2. Group assignment: A license can be assigned to everyone in certain groups. The groups are obtained via the SSO provider, so they typically match your existing department groups.

A license can be assigned to or withdrawn from each user or group by clicking on the respective entity.

How quickly a license takes effect

  • Direct assignment to a user takes effect almost instantly. In some cases it may take a few minutes.

  • Assignment via a group is not immediate. Group-based licenses are indexed overnight and are assigned to the affected users the following day.

Roles

When you open a specific user, you can assign them an Administrator role and/or a Developer role. Each role grants additional permissions within amber.

  • Administrator: Unrestricted access across all workspaces. Administrators can access Company Settings in the dashboard and configure things that apply company-wide, such as assigning licenses and roles.

  • Developer: Access to code, APIs, and development tools. Only users with the Developer role can create API keys – without this role, API keys cannot be created.

Need more licenses?

If all your licenses are assigned (for example 100 / 100), you will need additional licenses to onboard more users. To request more, please contact amber or your amber Account Manager directly.
